Mysteries of the Heart

There is no heart

that cannot be set alight by His rays.

There is no soul

that cannot burn in His fire.

The fabric of reason

         is of no use —

a heart torn by love

         can’t be mended.

To gamble and lose to the beautiful ones

         is gain indeed —

the commodity of love can’t

         be hoarded.

With his intellect the scholar

         can’t comprehend our world —

a hundred thanks that the heart’s mysteries

         can’t be learned!

O pretender, have shame

         before God!

Counterfeit goods

         can’t be sold to everyone!

He can’t be called the “soul”

for He is the Bestower of soul to the world.

He can’t be called “body”

for that Spirited One is not a body.

His sun-like face

         bestows light to the heart.

Truly, there is no heart

that cannot be set alight by His rays.
