With the eyes of selfhood, you cannot see Him,
for His face is reserved for Himself alone.
Not until you annihilate “I” and “we”
will you have any luck with Him.
The lover says all without speaking,
for love is beyond all that can be said.
Not every ignorant fool can be a selfless mystic;
this is a principle to be borne in mind.
Beware, do not seize the hem of some worthless person’s cloak;
avoid being ruined by someone slain by his own ego.
